As you know, approximately two years ago I treated the engine on my 6.2 liter Chevy Blazer with Maxilube. The results weren't too startling until the events of August 29, 1994. That day my 11-year-old son and I started out on a drive from Anchorage to Seward, Alaska. Seward is located 125 miles south of Anchorage through a mountain pass named Turnagain Pass. At that particular time as we were going up a series of fairly steep inclines about 6-8 miles long leading to Turnagain Pass, the sun was directly in our eyes. I couldn't see the instrument panel so I didn't realize the engine had lost its coolant and was getting hot. I was moving along at a good pace therefore there was no odor because the coolant was trailing out behind us. After making one attempt to get water in the radiator which was so extremely hot it would instantly turn the water to steam and blow it back out, I decided to try to make it on up to Turnagain Pass parking area, regardless of the damage to the engine. I had decided to do that because of the danger factor of being stranded alongside of the road with my 11 year old son.
During the next two or three miles to the top, the engine got so hot is started melting adjacent wiring, rubber grommets, etc. In 35 years of being an operating engineer I've never seen a diesel engine so hot. Just as we drove over the crest near the parking entrance, the engine quit running from sheer extreme heat. At least we were personally off the road and were safe with access to an emergency phone calling for help. My son kept insisting we try to start the Blazer and get it off the highway into the parking lot. Tired of chiding him for not realizing this engine would be totally fused together and would never run again, I agreed to try just to shut him up. To my astonishment, the engine fired right up and I drove the Blazer off the road and into the repairs and minor rewiring. Nothing was done to the engine whatsoever. There was no apparent damage nor repair required. I positively attribute this mechanical miracle to the benefits of Maxilube. Had I not treated it with Maxilube one year previously, I'm sure I would have been in for a new engine. Oxypro [Maxilube, CA] has my thanks and is certainly welcome to make this true life story available to anyone considering using Maxilube products.
