I have been using Maxilube in my 1980 Toyota 4x4 for some time now. Not long ago, I found out that the transmission had been leaking oil into the transfer case. Once I ran the transmission out of oil at highway speeds and got it so hot that it tried to stop, but it broke the main input shaft. I replaced or worked on the transfer case three times, but each time the oil was taken out of the transmission and not replaced. The only parts I had to replace were the front bearing and shaft. If I had not been using Maxilube I believe I would probably have had to replace the entire transmission.
